SET-UP:
Posters will be displayed on panels in the Dena'ina center located at 600 W. Seventh Avenue just a few blocks from the Hotel Captain Cook in downtown Anchorage, the Dena'ina Center provides a spacious and convenient location for poster presentations and is within walking distance of the Hotel Captain Cook. For a map, see the AMSS web site (http://alaskamarinescience.org/venues.html). You may begin putting up your poster by noon on Monday, January 16th. Further details were provided in an email from the Posters Chair sent out on December 21, 2011. If you did not receive an email titled “Poster Information for the Alaska Marine Science Symposium January 16-20, 2012”, please contact the Poster Chair or Crystal Benson.
SIZE LIMITATION:
Restrict the width (side-to-side, either landscape or portrait) of your poster to 48 inches. Poster panels are also 48 inches top to bottom; you may choose to have your poster hang off the edges, but it will not be supported. T-pins and/or push pins will be provided on the poster panels for your use.
HANDOUTS:
You are encouraged to bring handouts of your poster or other related information. We will provide cutaway folders that you can tack to your poster panel for holding these handouts.
DIGITAL POSTERS:
Occasionally people want to present their poster using a tablet computer. We do not have the ability to provide a power hook up to any poster. Though we encourage this dynamic way of presenting, it is solely the responsibility of the presenter. We cannot guarantee security or a supporting structure.
POSTER TUBE STORAGE:
You must take your poster tube with you after putting up your poster. There will not be room at your poster location for storage of the tubes.
SCHEDULE & PROGRAM
All regions should have their posters up during BOTH days of poster sessions to maximize visibility and traffic. For added information on where to locate posters please see the poster program (here)!
POSTER RECEPTIONS:
We are going to have presenters stand by their posters at different times to alleviate congestion and to help judges with time constraints. We are calling these time periods "waves".
The emails sent out on 12/21/11 detailed which wave you would be standing by your poster, please refer to that email. A diagram with locations of all the poster presenters and when they are to be at their station will be available in the registration packets and on this web site at a later date.
The timing of the waves:
Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands Posters - Monday, January 16th evening
5:45pm to 7:15pm - First wave
7:20pm to 8:50pm - Second wave
Gulf of Alaska Posters - Tuesday, January 17th evening
